The Southern Newspaper Publishers Association and its Traveling Campus program, launched in late 2001, has reached more than 33,000 participants in more than 1,200 daily and non-daily newspapers.

The Traveling Campus was started with a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Current funding comes from an endowment created by contributions from individuals, newspapers, press associations and companies that provide goods and services to the newspaper industry.
